WEASLEY HOUSE WIZARD WALL

The pieces are made for a hand built recreation of the Ronald Weasley Tree House AirBnb at Vermont reTreet. In this 4 piece series, 2 primary pieces are completed by smaller supporting abstracts calling to life candles, a watercolor play on using candles to illuminate portraits.

The Ronald Weasley Tree House AirBnb is made entirely of upcycled material, and is a stylistic a mix of mid-century modern, Vermont modern, and retrofitted by hand into a mid century modern, TREE HOUSE version of the Weasley House in Harry Potter.

After a lot of holding the brush, I found I’d painted scenes from the most important wizard to the Weasleys - Harry. And since it’s a Hogwarts Portrait Wall made especially for the Weasley House, it’s both more expansive and more focused than a single character portrait.

This leaves an impressionistic experience, and plenty of landscape for a viewer to imagine.

The Blue Candle represents Harry surviving because of love, in a way he should not have, where there is an unexpected night and an uncertain future, despite survival and the most unexpected defeat.

Harry and Sirius Black are attacked by hundreds of dementors, but are saved by a Patronus.

Harry realizes later thanks to time travel, it was Harry himself who cast the spell.

Where all things Harry Potter begin, on Privet Drive. Hagrid arrives on a flying motorcycle with baby Harry, Albus Dumbledore turns off all the streetlights, and a cat reveals itself to be Professor McGonagall.

Harry is left with his unwilling uncle, but Lord Voldemort was defeated, and the story begins.

Warm, cozy, and red to highlight the warmth, comfort and easy of all things Weasley. A fun play on a candle in Watercolor, in an abstraction of the way candles are used everywhere in Hogwarts and Harry Potter scenery, to illuminate portraits - except without the danger of flames.
